Ingredients
- 1/2 cup of flour
- 1/4 cup of dashi (or stock, I find fish stock works perfect)
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg
- 1 and 1/2 cup of diced cabbage
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tsp Okonomiyaki Sauce (お好み焼きソース)
- 2 tsp mayonaise
- 1/2 spring onion (finely sliced)
Instructions
Mix the egg and cabbage together in a large bowl
Mix the flour and baking powder to the cabbage mixture
Add the dashi / stock to the mixture
Heat up the oil in a deep frying pan, when it's hot add the mixture to the pan. Make sure it's not completely flat, you want the mixture to be in a thick circle (about 1-2cm thick)
Put a lid over the pan and cook on a low heat until the bottom of the pancake is golden brown (normally around 5-10 minutes)
Flip the pancake and cook until the other side is gold brown (normally 5-10 minutes)
Serve with Okonomiyaki Sauce spread over the pancake and mayonaise drawn in a spiral and pulled in lines to the edges to create a web pattern
Scatter the spring onion on top and enjoy!
