Boiled Egg with Anchovy Butter

The saltiness from the anchovies goes perfectly with a yolk! A match made in heaven.


  • Butter (preferebly unsalted)
  • 2 anchovy fillets
  • A couple slices of your favourite bread
  • 1 egg
  • A small bunch of fresh flat-leaf parsley



Put your egg into boiling water then turn down to simmer for 5 minutes. Depending how much bread you want have, make enough anchovy butter that is suitable. The butter is half butter to half chopped anchovies and made into a paste.


Use the oil from the anchovy tin or jar and splash some into a frying pan and fry your bread until nice and crispy. When your egg and bread are done chop up your bread into soldiers and spread with the anchovy butter then scatter with parsley.


Enjoy dipping the soldiers into you egg!
